Sometimes I feel like I'll prefer to be a citizen living in a communist state

Does it sound ridiculous that I would want to live in a system that is dictatorial in everyone's eyes?

I just feel that the grandiose idea before communism and socialism is quite the utopia state that many would want to live under given that even the leaders abide to the same equal standing treatment. Why did North Korea become such a poor state with lots of hungry and poor people? It's probably (in my own opinion) because the great leader had usurp all the wealth and benefits generated through the system. If the great leader had also abide to the rules and regulations of the state enjoying the same amount of benefits that each and every citizen of the country, the system would probably strive without (or a low level) any theft. Also, the rat race will be eliminated from the country since everyone enjoys the same benefits. Though, some might get lazy and tries to ride on the benefits of others.

Given that greed and pride are the common 7 cardinal sins, it will be a matter of time when the leaders will fall into greed and pride wanting more power and benefits for themselves. Signaling the collapse of a truly communist state.

Jealousy and materialism will also be gone given that everyone has (almost) the same things and consumerism would probably not thrive. Then will the economy be affected? Since most of the world is driven by consumerism, it's hard for me to envision one without.

Not sure why such a topic sprouted out in my mind. :) Would like to think-aloud here to see if there are others with differing views.
